How to Change the Password for Google Account from Gmail or Youtube

Gmail and YouTube services belong to Google. They all use the same credentials to log in to. Here is how to change password for Google Account from Gmail and YouTube. We recommend to change it at least once a year. However it would be better to enable 2-step verification as well.

How to change the password for Google Account from Gmail

Step 1. Log in to your Gmail account.
Step 2. Click on the Gear icon on the upper right and select Settings:

Step 4. Click on Change password:

Step 6. Enter your secret combination twice and click on CHANGE PASSWORD:

How to change your Google password from YouTube

Click on your account icon on the upper right.
Ensure you selected your primary channel (if you have several channels).
Click on the gear icon.
Click Change password:

Re-enter your password and click Sign in:

Enter new super secret set of symbols twice and click on CHANGE PASSWORD:

    • If you receive text message with a verification code from Google but you are sure you didn’t try log in to your Google Account this means somebody knows your password. In this case change Gmail password (a.k.a. Google Account Password) just not to be bothered by those SMS messages. But anyways, noone will be able to log in to your account unless he has access to your cellphone is able to view verification codes.

    • “Gmail password” and “Google Account password” – the same thing. You cannot use different passwords for Gmail and Google.
